PE
PE and Sport at St George’s Catholic Primary School
At St George’s, we are committed to ensuring every pupil enjoys and benefits from high-quality PE lessons tailored to their individual needs and abilities. From Reception through to Year 6, all pupils take part in at least 2 hours of planned PE lessons each week.
Our PE Curriculum
We work closely with a qualified sports coach who leads outdoor PE lessons for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils. These lessons include a variety of activities such as team games, ball skills, and athletics, designed to develop balance, coordination, agility, and overall physical confidence. Our lessons follow the Enfield Borough’s PE framework to ensure a well-rounded experience.
In addition to outdoor lessons, each class teacher delivers an indoor lesson weekly, focusing on dance, gymnastics, or indoor athletics. These sessions help pupils build their individual skills in a supportive environment using our well-equipped halls. The PE timetable can be downloaded below.
Extracurricular Clubs
We offer a wide range of lunchtime and after-school clubs to provide extra opportunities for pupils who love sport and want to develop their skills further. These clubs also offer chances to compete with other schools in the borough.
Our current clubs include:
- Monday: Year 6 Football, Dance
- Tuesday: Year 5 Football
- Wednesday: Cross Country
- Thursday: Netball
- Friday: Girls’ Football
Other clubs such as Rounders, Rugby, and Gymnastics run throughout the year.
Competitions and Achievements
St George’s regularly takes part in interschool competitions organised by the London Borough of Enfield PE Team. We are proud of our pupils’ achievements and their sportsmanship in these events.
PE Kit
On PE days, we ask that pupils come to school wearing their PE kit. For details on the PE uniform, please visit our Uniform Information page.
Sports Day
Our annual Sports Day is a highlight of the school year, where all pupils participate in fun and friendly athletics events. Pupils compete for their house teams, with the current Sports Day trophy held by St Francis of Assisi House. It’s a fantastic celebration of teamwork, effort, and school spirit.
If you have any questions about our PE and sports programme or would like to get involved, please feel free to contact the school office.
We look forward to supporting every pupil to enjoy and succeed in PE and sport at St George’s!
